Adolescente resgata abelha e agora o inseto se recusa a viver sem ela
Uma adolescente que resgatou uma abelha diz que agora o inseto é um animal de estimação leal que a segue por toda parte e até dorme em uma jarra ao lado de sua cama.

Tudo começou há duas semanas, quando Lacey Shillinglaw, 13, avistou uma grande abelha deitada na estrada enquanto passeava com seu cachorro. Ela pegou a abelha e percebeu que tinha uma asa amassada.
Ela tentou colocar o inseto em um local mais seguro, em algumas flores em um parque próximo, mas ela se recusou a ficar parada, zumbindo de volta para Lacey e rastejando sobre ela, e depois de uma hora ela desistiu e foi para casa com a criatura empoleirada em seu ombro.
Apesar das repetidas tentativas de deixar o inseto do lado de fora, a amiga agitada se recusou a sair do lado de Lacey. Agora recuperada e batizada de Betty, ela a segue até as lojas e até fica com Lacey durante jogos na pista de boliche com 14 amigos.
Ela ficou com Lacey durante os dois jogos – por duas horas e meia.
“Estou muito feliz e adoro passar meu tempo com ela”, disse a garota de Coventry, West Midlands. “Ela é tão fofa e eu amo nossa amizade.”
No caminho para casa, Betty estava empoleirada nos óculos da garota enquanto ela entrava em sua loja local para comprar leite – chocando outros clientes.

O inseto aparentemente gosta de mordiscar a comida de Lacey, mas também é alimentado com água com açúcar, mel e geleia de morango. Lacey leva sua companheirinha ao jardim para se banquetear com o néctar da flor, mas assim que a adolescente volta para dentro, Betty está bem ao lado dela.
À noite, Lacey enfia Betty em uma pequena jarra ao lado de sua cama e o animal fica parado até de manhã.
Durante o dia, Betty se aninha na nuca de Lacey, ou dentro de sua manga, entre os zumbidos ao redor da sala de estar.
“É completamente adorável – e também maluco”, disse sua mãe, Laura. “Betty sobe no cabelo comprido de Lacey como se fosse uma espécie de selva.
“Ela fica lá 90% do tempo durante o dia, incluindo o rosto, os óculos e até mesmo entre os dedos dos pés. É tão lindo – simplesmente lindo. ”

Betty aparentemente até gosta de dar um passeio pela casa, mas fica longe do resto da família – mãe, pai e dois irmãos mais novos.
“Temos todas as portas muito abertas e ela nunca vai embora – não tenho a menor dúvida por quê”, disse Laura.
As abelhas podem picar alguém repetidamente sem morrer – mas isso nunca aconteceu com Betty e Lacey porque elas se tornaram melhores amigas.
“Betty é totalmente incrível – vou me lembrar disso para sempre”, diz Lacey.
